It passes through me

People sometimes ask me how I can hear people's pain and not be overwhelmed by it. Somehow, I can feel the pain deeply, but it never stays inside me. It's as if it passes through me and out to the wide open Universe.  I actually leave every workshop filled with joy. I feel honored that people trust me with their hearts.  And I feel so deeply gratified knowing that one more person has been freed to be her glorious self in this one fascinating life.  No one, absolutely no one, in the world has a better job than I do.  Hearing the soul is my super power, and I get to do it every day.

Mona

In third grade, when the schools integrated, I met Mona. Mona was a soft, shy girl with long red Shirley Temple curls. She walked with a bounce just like her hair as she skirted around the edges of space, peeping in from time to time at everyone in the center, not unhappy to entertain herself where she was. She was open and curious when I came over to inquire into her. In the first weeks of school, our class pictures came. I liked mine but knew full well no one would be forking over the money to purchase them, so I placed them on my desk in front of me to admire while I could. The next morning, the teacher told me that a little bird had purchased my pictures for me. I still suspect it was Mona, or maybe JT - the white boy with thick dark hair who seemed to always be at my desk making jokes.

Your Question?

As a young girl, I often found myself barefoot in our back yard looking past treetops to the blue sky with a question I could never quite form. The unformed question led me to study philosophy and to live at the spine of ideas.  Then Maslow introduced me to this call in and through and all around us. Its ferocious reach for evolution always and only through each other. I now know my question: “Who will assist the ferocious reach for evolution always and only through each other?” It turns out my question is who I am.  Tell me yours.

"...and when that answer comes and rings strongly and purely in your mind, and your heart responds to it with a shock of gratitude and recognition, then a conviction is inspired in you that a world of doubters could not destroy."   ~TBLD

When, oh When

When I'm farther along,
my love will simply
permeate boundaries.

When, oh when
will I dissolve into the oneness
leaving nothing but love's capacity
to permeate boundaries?
